One of the most common triggers being illnesses that are the result of Campylobacter jejuni, a bacterium that causes diarrhea, with approximately 1 in 1000 incidents leading to GBS. GBS can also result from many other types of infections which include the Zika virus, cytomegalovirus, Epstein Barr virus, and even just the flu.
Treatment for GBS can commonly include an exchange of plasma, high-dose immunoglobulin therapy, and treating symptoms while observing changes in health.
